She wanted to learn about an animal that was only found in a place that was probably the furthest away from home. She learned quickly that Australia was a beautiful island with many unique animals, specifically a group she had never heard of, which were called marsupials. The kangaroo is probably the most famous of the marsupial family. It has the honour of being the national symbol of Australia - you can find it on the Australian coat of arms and also on some forms of Australia's currency.
Almost instantly she fell in love with this animal and also the country it derives from and committed her grade 3 project to none other than the animal that is endemic to Australia, the kangaroo. That was the beginning of her love for this island that at the time, seemed to be more of a dream than a reality to experience herself.
Now, over 15 years later, Katie B will be setting out to venture to the Land Down Under, Australia. Accompanying her on this journey will be her brother, Trevor who will also be contributing to this blog which will create a dynamic perspective of their travels.
