About Katie B

Katie B grew up in the city of North Bay, Ontario where she created simple small town northern memories most people in North Bay would share. Things like making your Halloween costume two sizes larger than your actual size so you could fit your snowsuit under it. Things like buying tickets in January for the much anticipated Voyageur Days festival held in July in an even smaller town of Mattawa, Ontario. Only to camp out, drink copious amounts of alcohol and to hear and relive the distant memories of faded out 80's rock stars like April Wine, Tom Cochrane or Cheap Trick. Or if that doesn't suit you, how about walking down Lakeshore drive during the summer month of July where the rush of the 14 hour living freshwater inhabitants of Lake Nipissing start to invade the city. Yes, North Bay's claim to fame, the shad fly. Despite the excitement of all of these plus many more qualities North Bay holds, Katie wanted more.

The name Katie B originates back to high school days when too many Katies came into the picture and the first letter of her last name somehow quickly became an extension of her name. Now, most people refer to her as “Katie B”, including past co-workers, friends, family (yes, even mom and dad) and also, herself.

After graduating high school, Katie quickly packed up her belongings and headed to the big city of Toronto, Ontario where culture, independence and opportunities flourished. She quickly became indulged in work and play in the social scene in downtown Toronto meeting people that forever influenced her to lead her to the decisions she has made. After spending sometime in the big city, the lifestyle in the small town of North Bay was begging her to come home.

So with not much hesitation, Katie B left the city of opportunities to go back to her roots. Upon returning, she was scooped up by a company whose front runner was a very popular radio voice in North Bay for many years who had now moved on to running a successful Marketing & Communications company, Clark Marketing Communications. From there she proceeded to work with the Jr. A Hockey team, the North Bay Jr. A Trappers as the Director of Business and Marketing for 2 seasons.

Now, Katie B along with her brother are pursuing a journey that has been a dream since her third grade school project on kangaroos when she discovered the very distant continent, country and island of Australia.
