Broken Hill, NSW

The magnificent Broken Hill Sculpture Park is one of the main tourist attractions and icons of the Australian outback. Twelve impressive stone sculptures are situated on a hill located in The Living Desert Reserve in about 10km north of Broken Hill.

Among the small towns spread across the inland of Australia's outback, Broken Hill in New South Wales has been dubbed unofficially the Outback capital. The vibrant earthy colours and magical light of this landscape have drawn film-makers and artists here to capture its special quality. This city portrays a blatant contrast to the lush green Blue Mountains and the blue waters of the New South Wales coastline, the western region of the state is a dusty and dry landscape scorched by the sun.

Built in 1883, this historic pub in the town of Silverton, near Broken Hill.
It has made many movie appearances including; Mad Max and Queen of the Desert.

Broken Hill is Australia's longest-lived mining city established in 1883 when vast deposits of zinc, lead and silver were discovered. With an exciting variety of attractions to see like; mining operations, a look out on top of the original Line of Lode mine, historic buildings, town history walking trails, art galleries galore, wagon rides, the Silverton Camel Farm and also the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia and the School of Air, there's not a second you could possibly be bored in this town.

More importantly, the reason we've added this to our list of things to do is that Broken Hill has more pubs per head than any other city in the state (population of Broken Hill is 22,000). So, not only is Broken Hill, NSW making our list of things to do, the very first Katie B & Trev Australian pub crawl is already in the works! We'll keep you posted on this... Until then, CHEERS!
